A humdrum entry for a humdrum blog

October 19th, 2006 at 10:49 pm

Sometimes I think my blog must be incredibly boring because basically, there is no drama in my life when it comes to money. I have little challenges here and there, but by and large, things are in balance and we're moving forward on our goals. I guess I continue to write for my own weird satisfaction.

Anyway, not much to say really. Stopped for gas on the way home - spent about $22 on that. Haven't spent any other money so far. There's about $91 left for groceries and about $127 left for dining and entertainment. I know we're going out Saturday night, and I know we need milk for us and for DD. Trader Joe's still has the best price around on organic milk. They beat Vons' sale prices any day. Too bad Vons is a mile away and TJ's is across town. The convenience of Vons wins out too often. Planning - the key, as always, for me to stick to a budget.

On balance and on track - with money left towards the end of the month in your categories - sounds very exciting to me. Our finances are pretty much the same right now. Of course mo' money to put in my categories would always be nice.

I think that the readers of these blogs, who are first encountering this notion of living below your means and saving ahead for the items you need and want, will find your blog quite informative.

    Keep it up! Smile

Frankly, I think having a so-called "boring life" would be a great stress relief after that little roller coast ride called "Divorce" of mine. So, from my perspective, no news is good news! I hope the boredom fairy visits me next.

For my part, I too write for my own little weird satisfaction. In fact, I am always surprised whenever people stop by and even bother to comment at all!

I think it was L. Rust Hills who observed that "Only the bored enjoy the unexpected."

Rejoice in the humdrum. It is our refuge from the "interesting times" of the ancient Chiinese curse. Oh, and for the record, I read your blog with interest. According to the statistics to the right, 146,653 visits and over 500 comments, I'm not alone.

I strive to be "hum-drum"! I really enjoy reading your blog, as I'm sure many others do too. It's great inspiration when you see someone who's worked at it as you have and is now on automatic pilot...

Same here - I'd prefer to shop at Trader Joe's (now that we finally have one, yippee!) but it's across town. I can't just stop by whenever the mood strikes me - I have to plan, too.

Vons actually had half gallons on sale tonight for $3 each. Trader Joe's is usually $3.19 for a half gallon. I don't know if I've ever seen Vons beat TJ's!

Is the Vons brand of Organic Milk rBST free?

    Thanks.
