acupuncture and migraines

July 11th, 2006 at 08:54 pm

I am trying acupuncture this Friday to see if I can get some relief from my migraines. I'm going on 48 hours of this one - it comes and goes in term of its intensity, so at least there are some breaks.

I think my health insurance covers acupuncture, though to what extent I do not know.

I hope it helps - I'll post an update if anyone is curious.

I have a friend that suffers from migraines and she says accupuncture is great for it!...problem is, she lives in Nicaragua, so, obviously she was unable to recommend one in ES! :P

I hope it helps! When I have migraines they don't last that long and I can't imagine the pain you're in. Just be careful going to acupunture. It's good for a one time fix but repeated use will eventually stop working due to tissue scaring that doesn't repair itself from the needles being put in the same place. Ok that's advice that I got from my Vietnamese Tai Chi instructor who also incorporated accupressure into his lessons so I'm not speaking from experience just what I've heard.

thanks for the feedback. it seems like everything I try works for a while (if at all) and then seems to lose effectiveness.
